LeverUp is opening Early Access to Cross-Exchange markets — a new way to trade that routes orders through the LeverUp Perps aggregator to external order books, instead of against the LeverUp pool.
This runs alongside LeverUp's existing pool-based markets. It doesn't replace them.
What's different
LeverUp's core markets settle through its protocol-managed virtual liquidity system: positions reference oracle pricing, and execution, settlement, and risk management happen at the protocol layer. Cross-Exchange markets work differently. Orders are filled on an external venue's order book, so price, depth, trading hours, leverage caps, and open interest limits for those markets follow that external venue rather than LeverUp's own parameters.
The appeal is straightforward: external order books carry liquidity and listings LeverUp's own markets don't have on their own. Routing through the aggregator gives traders a path to that depth, and to markets LeverUp doesn't list directly, from inside the same LeverUp interface.
How it works
Cross-Exchange uses a separate USDC balance — distinct from the collateral backing pool-market positions. Supported non-USDC tokens get converted to USDC when funding it. Traders can pre-fund that balance, or skip the step and transfer directly from their wallet when opening a position; if the balance is short, the difference moves over automatically as part of opening the trade.
Orders are signed off-chain, so placing and managing them carries no gas cost. The only on-chain steps are one-time account setup (which also enables LeverUp's existing One-Click Trading) and wallet top-ups. Available balance can be withdrawn at any time — the exception is margin currently backing an open position.
Fees work differently here too: Cross-Exchange trades carry the external venue's fee plus LeverUp's fee, both taken from the fill. That's separate from the fee schedule on LeverUp's pool-based markets, so it's worth checking before placing an order.
Why it's gated to Early Access
Cross-Exchange depends on infrastructure LeverUp doesn't control end-to-end — a third-party order book, its uptime, and its own trading rules. Gating the rollout to Early Access lets LeverUp bring traders on gradually while that integration gets exercised in production. Early users get first access to a feature still being hardened, in exchange for being part of that hardening process.
