GOLD/USD perpetual futures began trading on LeverUp on October 21, 2026. The listing brings gold — one of the most widely followed commodities in global markets — onto the same platform as LeverUp's crypto perpetuals.

The Metal, in Perp Form

Gold is priced in US dollars per troy ounce and trades around the clock across global venues, which is why it rarely sits still during a trading week. As a perpetual future, GOLD/USD gives traders two-sided exposure to the gold price — long or short — during the market's supported trading hours, without an expiry date, physical custody, or rolling dated futures contracts.

That matters because gold exposure usually lives somewhere else: a brokerage account for ETFs or futures, or a dealer for physical metal. A perp version trades inside the same account and interface as crypto perpetuals, so a trader can hold a view on gold alongside positions in BTC, ETH, or MON.

Part of the Cross-Exchange Expansion

GOLD/USD follows a busy stretch for the Cross-Exchange lineup. LeverUp opened early access to Cross-Exchange on October 12, extending the platform beyond crypto into stocks, indices, commodities, FX, and pre-IPO markets. CL/USD perpetuals joined on October 18 and S&P500/USD on October 19; gold now extends the commodities side of that lineup.

Cross-Exchange uses a dedicated trading balance: deposit funds to trade, withdraw when needed. Trading hours and limits for each market follow the corresponding venue, and the full contract specifications for GOLD/USD are shown in the trading interface before you place an order.

What Changes for Traders

  • One account, more asset classes: Gold exposure now sits next to crypto perps instead of in a separate brokerage or futures account.
  • Two-sided by default: Perps make shorting as straightforward as going long, which physical gold and most gold ETFs do not.
  • No expiry management: The contract has no scheduled expiry, so traders do not need to roll into a new contract.

GOLD/USD is live now in the LeverUp app.
