Grok Bot is xAI's product for running AI agents that keep working after you close your laptop. It launched in beta on August 11, 2026, and within weeks crypto Twitter was full of screenshots claiming Grok bots had turned small balances into large ones. This guide covers what Grok Bot actually is, what it costs, how to set one up, and where it fits in a crypto trading workflow.
Product details below were checked against xAI's docs and announcements as of September 29, 2026. Plans and features are changing quickly.
What Grok Bot Is
xAI describes Grok Bot as "AI teammates" you message like colleagues. You create one or more Bots, give each a name and a job, and hand them tasks in plain language from the desktop app or your phone.
The difference from regular Grok chat is the computer behind it. Per xAI's documentation, Bots work on "a persistent cloud computer with a browser, filesystem, and terminal." That computer keeps files, browser sessions and app logins between tasks, so a Bot can sign into tools you already use and pick up where it left off.
Other details from the launch post and docs:
- Bots keep context from past conversations and adapt to your preferences.
- You can show a Bot a process once and ask it to save it as a skill or routine.
- Several Bots can run at once and coordinate in shared threads.
- Bots continue background work and come back when they need input or approval. For approvals, you see the proposed action and choose Allow once, Always allow, or Deny.
One thing to know before connecting anything sensitive: your Bots share the same cloud computer, and xAI's security docs say a Bot generally operates with its owner's access rather than credentials of its own (team-managed connectors are a documented exception). Separate Bots help organize work, but they aren't separate security boundaries.
Grok Bot Pricing
Grok Bot has no standalone plan. At launch, access was limited to top-tier plans. On August 26, xAI expanded it to:
- SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus and SuperGrok Heavy
- Cursor Pro, Cursor Pro+ and Cursor Ultra
- Cursor Teams (Standard and Premium)
xAI's announcement didn't list prices. At the time of writing, SuperGrok is listed at $30/month, SuperGrok Plus at $100 and SuperGrok Heavy at $300, and Cursor Pro costs $20/month. The cheaper SuperGrok Lite tier isn't on the eligible list. Bundles already changed once since launch, so confirm on x.ai/pricing before subscribing.
Included access doesn't mean unlimited usage. According to the Grok Bot FAQ, each plan comes with a weekly allowance, separate from your regular Grok or Cursor usage, and eligible accounts can buy on-demand usage "billed from model and token cost." xAI doesn't publish exact weekly numbers, so check your usage meter and on-demand settings before scheduling ongoing tasks.
How to Use Grok Bot
Setup follows xAI's getting-started guide:
- Download the app from x.ai/bot. Desktop covers macOS, Windows and Linux; mobile covers iPhone, iPad and Android.
- Sign in with a Cursor account and link your SuperGrok subscription if that's how you pay.
- Create a Bot with a name, a main job and a short description.
- Give it a task by text or voice.
- When it needs to log into an app, it hands you the cloud computer so you enter credentials yourself. Some services connect through plugins instead.
- Review the output, ask for revisions, and once a process works, have it saved as a skill.
xAI's security guidance suggests writing boundaries into the request: ask the Bot to draft a change, tell it not to make the change, and have it ask for approval after showing current and proposed values. That habit matters more once money is involved.
Grok Bot Use Cases for Crypto Traders
Grok Bot has no built-in trading engine. It's a general agent with a browser and terminal, so its value to traders depends on what you point it at:
- Research digests: governance proposals, token unlock calendars, protocol docs, a day of posts about a project.
- Monitoring: checking dashboards, public APIs or your positions on a schedule, and messaging you when something crosses a threshold you set.
- Trade prep: pulling funding rates and open interest into a sheet, drafting a plan with entry, stop and size, reconciling fills against a journal.
- Reporting: weekly PnL summaries and tax-prep exports from exchange CSVs.
In these jobs the Bot does the legwork and you make the call. Keeping its output advisory reduces direct execution risk.
Can Grok Bot Trade Crypto? The Integrations So Far
A few trading and payment integrations have shipped for Grok recently. Note that these are connectors for Grok broadly, not features documented specifically for Grok Bot.
Coinbase launched Coinbase for Agents on June 11, letting users authorize an AI assistant to trade from an isolated portfolio with spending caps, trade limits and optional per-action approvals. Grok added a Coinbase connector in early September. Coinbase's developer account later shared data putting Grok at about 60% of notional agentic trading volume for September 14 to 21, as Bitcoin.com reported. That figure is a share of an undisclosed total. It says nothing about profitability or execution quality.
On August 31, MoonPay brought its PayBox wallet into Grok. Fortune summed it up as: "Grok prepares the transaction. The user approves it with a passkey." PayBox has an Always Ask mode, where each transaction needs a passkey, and an Autonomous mode that acts within limits you set, per The Paypers. Availability varies by region.
Both designs put limits outside the model. Those limits reduce risk, but they don't prevent trading losses or operational failures.
What Grok Bot Can't Do: A Note on Viral Claims
Soon after launch, a post claimed someone gave Grok Bot $50 and watched it grow to $5,273 in 48 hours on Polymarket. Reader-added context on X questioned whether the dashboard shown matched Polymarket and whether the linked account's history fit a $50 start. Treat screenshots like this as unverified until someone shows checkable onchain records.
More broadly, Grok Bot provides execution plumbing, not an edge. It can run a strategy you describe, but it doesn't make that strategy profitable, and a Bot acting on stale data or a misread instruction can lose money quickly. With leverage, those mistakes scale. Safety Basics Before You Connect Money
- Keep credentials with you. xAI's docs say logins, one-time codes and payment steps should go through the takeover or masked-secret flow, not ordinary chat.
- Give the agent a separate account, portfolio or key with only the permissions it needs, ideally without withdrawal rights.
- Use per-action approvals for anything that moves money while you learn how the Bot behaves.
- Start with size you're fine losing, and read the logs.
- Know how to revoke access from outside the agent's environment.

Using a Grok Bot Agent With LeverUp
LeverUp doesn't offer a native Grok Bot integration. It does publish a developer API, and a custom integration would implement its documented flow: read-only market endpoints, plus an intent-signing and submission path for trades. The relevant pattern is 1CT Hosted Agent mode, where you authorize a separate signing key that, per LeverUp's developer docs, can submit trading intents but can't transfer tokens or withdraw collateral, and that you can revoke onchain.
LeverUp uses a protocol-managed virtual liquidity system powered by the VMMV, where trades reference oracle pricing while execution, settlement, and risk management are handled at the protocol layer. Agent-submitted positions remain subject to LeverUp's margin and liquidation rules.

FAQ
Can Grok Bot trade crypto?
Possibly, through an integration you configure, such as a venue API that supports agent access. Grok's chat connectors (like Coinbase's) don't by themselves confirm Grok Bot support, and Grok Bot doesn't come with a trading strategy or any expectation of profit.
How much does Grok Bot cost?
There's no separate price. Access is included with SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, SuperGrok Heavy and paid Cursor plans, each with a weekly usage allowance, and eligible accounts can buy extra usage. The cheapest listed routes are Cursor Pro ($20/month) and SuperGrok ($30/month); confirm current prices on x.ai.
Is there a Grok Bot app or download?
Yes. xAI offers desktop apps for macOS, Windows and Linux, and mobile apps for iPhone, iPad and Android.
Is Grok Bot the same as Grok?
No. Grok is the chat assistant. Grok Bot runs persistent agents on a cloud computer with a browser and terminal that keep working after you log off. For how agents differ from classic bots, see AI Trading Agent vs Trading Bot.
